What I want to do in the next five years...

Hearing Alan talk about how we are less than two months away from entering the work force got me thinking about the future. The future...it's an interesting place in time. There's a lot of words I'd use to describe the future. Scary, nerve-wrecking, stress-filled, but at the same time, it's also something I would describe as hopeful, rewarding but importantly exciting.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous for the future, but it's something that I continue to think about late at night before I go to sleep. There's no escaping it, and whether or not I am ready, the future will be here before I know it. Despite my feelings of uncertainty, I still look forward to the future.
That being said, there are some goals and milestones, both professional and personal that I hope to hit within the next five years, or at least before I turn 30, whichever one comes first.
1) I want to become an on-air sports reporter, covering primarily baseball.
2) I want to move out to the east coast, and live there for a few years before coming back to LA.
3) Make it on either ESPN and/or MLB Network.
4) Cover a major sports championship event (e.g World Series, NBA Finals or a Super Bowl).
5) I want to be married by 30.
6) I hope to be a homeowner within the next five years.
7) Become a proud owner of two corgis. (I'll name them Corey the Corgi and Sparky)
8) Visit Vietnam and eat pho there!
9) Learn how to swim so I don't risk my own life if I ever decide to surf again. (Funny story I learned how to surf before without learning how to swim)
While there may be more goals that comes up in the future, these are some of the things I look to accomplish in my professional and personal life.
When I really think about it, the future isn't as scary as it seems. It's something to look forward to and be excited for. Anything is possible as long as I set my mind to it and as long as I continue to grind, my future will be bright and prosperous.
